A large embroidered suzani design - colourful embroidered roundal motifs & scrolls sit within a decorative border, embroidered onto 100% linen. This stunning embroidery inspired by an antique textile from Uzbekistan, which originally would have been hand embroidered. The word 'suzani'comes from the Persian word suzan, which means needle. Originating from nomadic tribes in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstanand other Central Asian countries, suzanis have become highly collectable and valued for their beautiful decoration and fine craftsmanship. 'Maracanda' has been embroidered on modern CAD machines, using stitches to replicate the look of the original hand embroidery. Long floats of running stitch have been used to fill the motifs, and a thicker chain stitch to border each motif.
